Robert P. Bell
Attorney, Robert P. Bell has been assisting individuals with their legal needs for more than 35 years. He is the well-respected principal of the firm. Bob is a member of the Oregon State Bar Association, Washington County Bar Association, and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. Bob is also admitted to the bar in New Jersey and is a Diplomate of the Court Practice Institute. In addition to his busy practice, Bob has devoted time and energy for many years as a member of the board of directors and president of the board of Rainbow Adult Living Services, a nonprofit organization serving developmentally disabled adults. He also serves on the board of trustees of his church. Bob is a member of his local Kiwanis Club, serves on its board of directors and has served as president. For several years he was a member of the board of directors and served as president of the board of the Tualatin Valley Mental Health Center. Bob received his B.A. from Rutgers University and his J.D. at the Dickinson School of Law of Penn State University. Bob is married and has two daughters and a son. One of his daughters is a first grade teacher. His other daughter has her MBA and works for a local company. Bob's son is a meteorologist and is currently the morning meteorologist on a Montana television station.
Fun fact: Bob's free time is often spent with his young grandson.
Justin R. Martin
Attorney, Justin R. Martin is a shareholder at the firm. He was born in Portland and raised in Tualatin before going to Virginia to earn a B.A. in Religion & Government Law at Liberty University. After humanitarian trips to India and Honduras and work in Virginia and California’s social service systems, Justin earned his J.D. at Willamette University College of Law to continue serving people. Before earning his Oregon license to practice law in 2006, Justin was honored as an extern with the Oregon Supreme Court. His practice consists of Business, Estate Planning, Elder Law, and General Litigation. Justin is a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, as well as the Estate Planning and Administration, Elder Law, and Construction Law sections of the Oregon State Bar. He is active at the Pearl Church in Portland and spends his leisure time learning Spanish and being a new dad.
Fun fact: Justin and his wife enjoy salsa dancing.
Barbara P. Smythe
Barbara Smythe earned her B.A. from Pacific Lutheran University and her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School, where she won a
Dean’s Fellowship and was selected to serve on the Law Review and the Moot Court Honor Board. Before joining Myatt & Bell,
P.C., Barbara spent many years in the litigation group of a downtown Portland law firm. She has also worked in the Oregon
Senate, practiced estate planning and served as general counsel for a large nonprofit organization. Barbara is a former
president of the Multnomah County chapter of Oregon Women Lawyers, has served on the boards of Oregon Women Lawyers, the
Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation and the Oregon Home Education Network and is a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in
Lake Oswego. She is a member of the Estate Planning & Administration, Elder Law and Business Litigation sections of the
Oregon State Bar, serves on the Executive Committee of the Solo and Small Firm Practitioners section, and is currently in
her second season as a High School Mock Trial coach. Barbara enjoys nonfiction writing, classical music, the outdoors, and
spending time with her husband and three teenage children.
Fun fact: Barbara recently hiked the Grand Canyon from rim to rim and enjoys talking about it to anyone who will listen.
Judy R. Gibson
Judy R. Gibson is a treasured resource of the firm. Ms. Gibson first joined Myatt & Bell in 1971 and earned the title of paralegal in 1973. She works alongside the attorneys and clients in matters involving Estate Planning and Probate.
Ms. Gibson is married to her husband of 40 years with two sons and five grandchildren (the joy of their lives). Together they enjoy bicycling, hiking, gardening, traveling, and above all, spending as much time as possible with their grandchildren.
Fun fact: Judy enjoys visiting remote destinations in Mexico.
Lewis E. Myatt
In March 2006, Lewis E. Myatt retired from the practice of law after 46 years of devoted service. First admitted to the Oregon State Bar and Federal District Court Bar in 1960, Mr. Myatt simply loved being an attorney. Dedicated to his community, Mr. Myatt served as President and Board Member of the Beaverton Rotary Club and as a member of the Dammasch State Hospital Advisory Board. He was a founder, member of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of the Washington County Children's Dental Clinic. He also was elected and served as a member of the Education Service District of Washington County.
As a pioneer in the legal industry, Mr. Myatt is credited with leading the largest law firm in Washington County during the 1960s and 1970s. He also was one of the first Washington County attorneys to hire a woman attorney and was influential in promoting the induction of a woman into the local rotary club.
Fun fact: Lew always had a cigar in his mouth.
