Taking Care of Others
Caring for a loved one can be incredibly hard.
There are some steps that we can take now before they become incapacitated, and then other steps that we may have to take later.
Before our loved-one loses capacity we can:
- Be prepared with a power of attorney.
- Encourage them to set up a Living Trust so we can better help manage their finances.
If our child has special needs, then:
- We likely will want to create a Supplemental Needs Trust for that child within our estate plan.
- We may also consider seeking a guardianship/conservatorship.
Next, it is important to make sure that others are not taking advantage of ourĀ loved one.
Finally, when a loved-one passes away, we may be responsible for taking their estate through probate or administering their trust.
We care about your ability to care for your loved ones and are here to help you.
